‘None of the 20 people admitted to the Burn Institute is safe’

Twenty people, including fire service members, injured in an explosion at a BM container depot in Sitakunda, Chattogram, are being treated at the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in the capital.
Samanta Lal Sen, Chief Coordinator of Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, has given this information on Saturday
Dr. Samant Lal said, “So far 20 patients have been admitted in this burn hospital. Among them Gausul Azam on in Life Support. Another firefighter Robin Mia, 22, and container driver Nazrul Mandal, 38, were admitted to the ICU.
The rest are in post operative wards. However, Gausul Azam’s condition is very critical. The condition of the rest is not also at all safe.
“On Saturday morning, all the doctors visited the patients in the ward. The doctors of the medical board had also a meeting around 11 o’clock.
Professor Dr. Kazi Deen Mohammad and other physicians of the National Institute of Ophthalmology will also visit the patients On Sunday. Then we will jointly decide what else can be done to treat them.
Earlier, a 10-member medical board was formed on Monday (June 6) morning to treat the victims of the fire at the BM container depot in Sitakunda.,.
The medical board was formed headed by Professor Abul Kalam, the Director of the Burn Institute.
Earlier, on Saturday (4 June), at least 46 people were killed including fire service staff and over 300 injured in a fatal fire and explosions at the BM container depot in Sitakunda. Most of the injured are receiving treatment in the various hospitals in Chattogram and Dhaka.
