Italy returnee Bangladeshis taken to institutional quarantine: 5 flee from airport

No coronavirus symptoms were found in the bodies of the 152 Bangladeshi nationals who were denied entry to Italy and sent back from the airport.
They were found well in primary examinations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
Of the 152 Bangladeshi nationals, 147 were sent to institutional quarantine at the Hajj Camp in the city’s Ashkona area while the five others fled.
A Qatar Airways flight carrying them landed at the airport around 2:35am on Friday.
HSIA’s Director Toufique ul Ahsan said, after the regular health checkup of the early Friday’s flight passengers have sent to institutional quarantine at the Hajj Camp.
Mostafa Kamal, an duty official at Ashkona Hajj Camp told to media that after scanning of the Italy returnees there had not been found any Covid-19 symptom.
He said, further steps will be taken for the returnees under the guidance of Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS). Whether
the Covid-19 test of them would be conducted or not during staying at Hajj Camp will be decided by DGHS’s doctors.
One of the returnees from Italy said anonymously that no test had done yet. However, they don’t know when it will be done.
Those who were sent back from Italy were taken to the Hajj Camp while the rest of the flight passengers were allowed to go home from the airport.
DGHS’s Assistant Director Ayesha Akter said, the Italy returnee can stay at home who with not have any Covid-19 symptom.
She further said, their contract tracing will be done. They will be under observation and regular contract will be maintained with them.
Italy sent back the Bangladeshis from the airport after some of them were detected with coronavirus.
The flight had landed at Fiumicino Airport in Rome around 1pm local time on Wednesday.
Earlier, another flight went there on Monday when some Bangladeshis were detected with coronavirus.
Later, Italy suspended the flight operation with Bangladesh for a week.
As the flight operation remains on with Qatar, Bangladeshis who went to Italy on a Qatar Airways flight on Wednesday were supposed to be allowed to enter the country.
However, Italy did not allow them to enter the country and instead sent them back.
