‘Nonajoler Kabbo’ wins Hiralal Sen Padak

Young writer-director Rezwan Shahriar Sumit’s “Nonajoler Kabbo,” bagged the Hiralal Sen Award on Saturday at the 20th edition of the largest Bengali film festival ‘Amar Bhashar Chalachchitra-1428’.
The award winning films in other categories are: Nurul Alam Atique’s Liberation War drama “Laal Moroger Jhuti” for best story, N Rashed Chowdhury’s “Chandrabati Kotha” for best cinematography and Abdullah Mohammad Saad’s “Rehana Maryam Noor” for best editing.
Amar Bhashar Cholochitro, organized by Dhaka University Film Society is an annual festival, held at the TSC premises of Dhaka University, which pays tribute to the martyrs of the Language Movement and celebrates Bangla Cinema.
The award was handed over to the directors and representatives today at an award giving ceremony at Dhaka University’s Teacher-student centre (TSC), said a press release, reports BSS.
Renowned filmmaker and freedom fighter Nasir Uddin Yousuff, President of Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh, Lailun Nahar Shemi, filmmakers Rezwan Shahriar Sumit and HumayraBilkis, actor Dilruba Hossain Doyel and other notable film personalities were present on the occasion.
As per the tradition, on the final day of the festival, in fond memory of the Indian subcontinent’s first film director, Hiralal Sen, a film from previous year – deemed best by esteemed judges- is awarded the Hiralal Sen Padak.
 The five-day long festival kicked off on February 22 with the screening of ‘Agantuk’, ‘Monpura’, ‘Unoponchash Batash’ and ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ at the auditorium of Dhaka University’s Teacher-Students Centre (TSC).
