Tech giants Google, Facebook and Amazon have collectively submitted Value Added Tax (VAT) returns of Tk 4,60,73,460 to the state coffer.
All the non-resident companies are registered with the Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Dhaka South.
According to Dhaka South VAT Commissionerate data, the VAT challan and all returns of these companies have been submitted as well.
SM Humayun Kabir, Commissioner of the VAT Commissionerate, said that these three non-resident companies have been paying VAT regularly since those are registered with the Commissionerate.
“We are getting VAT from those companies regularly. Besides, we have become able to know how much business they are making in Bangladesh after their registration with the Commissionerate.”
VAT paid by Google Asia Pacific Pte Ltd was Tk 1.7 crore and Amazon Web Services Inc paid Tk 34.7 lakh.
Meanwhile, Facebook Ireland Ltd paid Tk 2.55 crore, Facebook Payments International Tk 25,709 and Facebook Technologies Ireland Ltd paid Tk 16,065 VAT during this month.
