Teachers and employees of non-MPO educational institutions have gone on a hunger strike for an indefinite period demanding enlistment of their institutions under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme.
They started their programme in front of the National Press Club on Monday.
Earlier on Sunday, the protesting teachers sat in a meeting with Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni at International Mother Language Institute in the city.
The minister urged the teachers to go back to their respective educational institutions, pledging to implement their demand of MPO scheme. But the protesting teachers are not happy with the pledge of the minister.
