Teachers and employees of non-government educational institutions on Saturday demanded cancellation of the decision to deduct 10 percent of their monthly salaries for Pension Board and Welfare Trust.
The central committee of Bangladesh Non-Government Teachers’ and Employees’ Forum made the demand at a programme held in city’s Khilgaon.
Senior Vice-President Md Rafiqul Islam presided over the programme organised on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day.
On the other hand, the Gazipur unit of the organisation has demanded the same thing at a press conference on Saturday morning.
Earlier, the government decided to take 10 percent from basic salaries since last January for Pension Board and Welfare Trust of teachers and employees under MPO.
Previously, the amount for Pension Board and Welfare Trust was six percent of the total salary. But, after the newly issued order, it has been increased to 10 percent.
