District Election Office has validated nomination papers of 25 candidates out of 32 that were rejected earlier including those for the posts of chairmen and vice-chairmen for election in 6 upazillas in Sylhet District on Wednesday.
District Election Officer of Sylhet, Mohammad Azizul Islam said, nomination papers of 32 candidates were rejected due to lack of informations on Monday during the assessment of the papers. Among these, 25 nomination papers got validity through appeals to the Deputy Commissioner and after furnishing corrected information.
In Chairman post, those who have got validity are Muktar Uddin of Companiganj Upazilla, Iqbal Ahmed of Zakiganj, Siddiqur Rahman and Aqbar Ali of Golapganj Upazilla and Pankhi Khan of Bishwanath Upazilla in Sylhet District.
In Vice-Chairman Post, nominations of Abdur Rob of Jaintiapur, Md. Ataur Rahman, Israfil Ali, Adv Md. Shahjahan Choudhury, Abdul Motin, and Farid Ahmed of Companiganj, Mahmudullah Bulbul, Cherag Ali and Bilal Ahmad Imran of Companiganj, Md. Farid Uddinand M Mujibur rahman Mujib of Companigonj and Md Monjur Ahmad of Goaingaht upazilla have been accepted.
Also, nominations for female candidates for Vice-Chairman Post, Shirin Aktar, Sufia Begum and Ayesha Khatun of Jaintiapur, Nurunnahar and Roma Rani Das of Companiganj, Angura Bibi and Choudhury Sharmin Rahman of Bishwanath and Monowara Begum of Goainghat Upazilla have been accepted.
A total of 122 candidates from 6 upazillas in Sylhet District submitted nomination papers for the upcoming Upazilla Election due to be held on 19 February.
