A court in Noakhali on Wednesday sentenced a man to 15 years imprisonment in a drug case.
Convicted Neamat Ullah is a resident of Rasulpur area under Begumganj upazila of the district.
Noakhali District and Sessions Court Judge Saleh Uddin Ahmed pronounced the verdict.
The court also fined him Tk 50,000, in default, to suffer six months more in jail.
According to the prosecution, on information, a team of police conducted a drive in the area on November 26 in 2018 and detained Neamat alongwith 5,800 Yaba tablets.
A drug cases was filed against him with Begumganj Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.
The trial began after police submitted a charge sheet before the court in 2019, public prosecutor Guljar Ahmed Jewel confirmed.
