The Home Ministry has banned all celebrations of Christmas and 31st night in public places in view of the 11th parliamentary election to be held on December 30.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told this to the reporters on Sunday after emerging from a meeting held in his Ministry on the safety during the celebration of Christmas Day and English New Year.
Moreover, all sorts of gatherings, playing loud music, dancing, concerts, crackers and balloons will also not be allowed on 31st night, he said.
“Arranging any programme, DJ party and displaying fireworks are not allowed anywhere on the 31st night.”
The Minister also said, “Bars, except international standard hotels, will remain closed from afternoon on December 31 to next day afternoon. Roaming along with licensed arms is also prohibited during the time,” he added.
About the law enforcers’ role during the celebration, the Minister said they would remain busy with the election activities and will follow the instructions of the EC, the Minister said.
Earlier, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda announced a new schedule for the parliamentary election on November 12.
The CEC said the polls will now be held on December 30 instead of December 23.
