Reaffirming her resolve to punish the Narayanganj murderers, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday urged all concerned to refrain from doing anything out of over-enthusiasm that might obstruct the investigation into the gruesome incidents and action against the culprits.
“I’ve never given indulgence to injustice and I won’t do either in the future. Where will the murderers of seven people flee? We’ll find the criminals out and punish them,” she said seeking cooperation from all in bringing the killers to justice.
The Prime Minister, also the president of Bangladesh Awami League, said this while delivering her introductory speech in the Awami League Central Working Committee (ALCWC) meeting held at Gonobhaban in the evening.
Sheikh Hasina reminded that a state has three organs-legislative, judiciary and executive. “Every one of these organs is supplementary to each other and those shouldn’t do anything that will deter the activities of each other.”
She also noted that everyone needs to understand the fact that the Executive has its own jurisdiction and it should be able to properly discharge its activities, as any over-enthusiasm or any order could put barrier to its activities. Taking a dig at BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for her demand for disbanding the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), Hasina said Begum Zia had constituted the force and during her rule and used it for political purpose, killing political leaders and giving the force immunity.
She alleged that the elite force had killed many leaders of Awami League, Jubo League in the name of Operation Clean Heart after 2001 as well as shut down the research centre of Awami League, CRI.
