No visible changes at renovation in CU dorms

No visible changes were done apart from installation new toilet doors after the residential halls have been re-opened for students even after Chittagong University (CU) authorities closed the dormitories from June 8 to July 5 for renovation works.
The students claimed that the halls were not renovated during the temporary closure. Visiting the dormitories recently, it was found that broken windows and plasters were coming off the wall in all the residential halls. Most of the students staying in the dormitories have lost as their valuables the windows were broken.
They had to stay outside the varsity campus when the halls were closed by CU authorities for renovation works, which severely hampered their academic activities. The CU has 12 halls that can accommodate one-fourth of around 25,000 students. Of the 4,295 residential students, 1,771 are girl students residing in Shamsun Nahar, Khaleda Zia and Pritilata Halls.
Shah Jalal, Shah Amanat, Suhrawardy, Alaol, AF Rahman, Master Da Surya Sen and Abdur Rab Halls accommodate 2,542 boy students. Two others are still waiting to be opened. Md Imran Hossain, a student of AF Rahman Hall, said: “I had to go back home after the hall was closed.
