No torture cell exists on at CU : VC

No “torture cell’ exists on the campus of Chittagong University (CU).After visiting several halls of the University, CU acting Vice-Chancellor Prof .Dr. Shien Akter made the remark.
A team led by acting CU VC visited several residential halls including Pritilata Hall, Shamsun Nahar and Begum Khaleda Zia Hall and Abdur Rob Hall, Master Da Suryasen Hall, Suhrawardy Hall and Shahjalal Hall on Saturday.
The VC along with the team visited the students’ rooms on the different floors of the halls.She talked with students and wanted to know about the problems, shortages and complaints of those who are staying at halls.
Contracted, the Vice-Chancellor told the reporter, “Students of the halls are living with peace and good environment. I do not see anything bad. Do not find any torture cell.”
However, proctorial team, provosts and house tutors of different halls were also present at the visiting.
CU students confine hall provost: A group female of students of the Jananetri Sheikh Hasina Hall of Chittagong University (CU) confined the hall’s provost and house tutors demanding immediate publication of seat allotment list yesterday for half an hour, putting the room under lock.
The students also assembled in front of the hall demanding two points which include publication of allotment results within October 14 and notice to those who will entitle allotment by October 20.
Hearing the news acting proctor Rezaul Karim and assistant proctor Yakub and Mariam Liza of CU rushed to the hall and unlocked them.
Students alleged that hall authorities took their viva on September for the purpose of seat allocation but they yet to publish allotment result. Our study is highly hamper due to accommodation trouble.
CU acting proctor Rezaul Karim said that the hall is newly constructed.
Their allotment list is quite ready. As construction work is still underway in the hall, we have to be a little late, considering their safety.
