No Ta’zia procession on Ashura

Muslims will celebrate the holy Ashura on the 10th of Muharram (Sunday, August 30). On this occasion, in order to ensure the safety of the citizens in the current situation of coronavirus infection, all kinds of Ta’zia, mourning, and spike processions have been banned in the Dhaka metropolitan area.
This information was given in a press release signed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Moha. Shafiqul Islam on Wednesday.
According to the notification, in order to ensure the safety of the citizens of the Dhaka metropolitan area in the current situation of coronavirus infection, all kinds of Ta’zia / mourning procession on the occasion of Holy Ashura is declared ban.
However, devout city dwellers will be able to perform religious ceremonies at Imambara in compliance with the health rules.
Carrying knives, daggers, scissors, spikes, swords, sticks, and setting off fireworks and crackers will be strictly prohibited at the venue. This order will remain in force from the beginning to the end of the ceremony on the occasion of Holy Ashura.
