Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said the teachers have no scope to turn away technology to groom the new generation as worthy citizens in the present age of globalization.
“The application of ICT (information communication technology) and different modern technologies made regular training for teachers obligatory,” he said this on Tuesday while speaking at a function to award certificates to 600 school and college teachers who took part in a training programme organized by the department of secondary and higher education.
Held at the Officers Club at Baily Road in the city, the function was presided over by Director General of Department of Secondary and Higher Education Prof. Fahima Khatun.
Secretary-in-Charge of Education Ministry SA Mahmud and Additional Secretary Dr. Aruna Biswas also spoke on the occasion, said an official release.
The education minister said ICT courses have been made mandatory in different classes and multimedia classrooms have been developed in 24,000
educational institutions across the country.
Activities of newly developed 125 Upazila ICT Training and Resource Centre
for Education (UITRCE) across the country started this year to train the
teachers on ICT, he said.
This type of UITRCE will be built in 160 upazilas in next two years, added
