No sale of Iftar items in open places

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Benzir Ahmed has urged the vendors, pity shop owners and fruit traders not to sell Ifter items on the city’s footpath or in open spaces during the holy month of Ramadan and with request to the customers not to purchase those foods from temporary shops. He further said that that DMP would continue its drives with 10 mobile teams against food adulteration during the month of Ramadan. The DMP check-posts and the mobile courts will jointly work to reduce the food adulterations and ensuring the security.
He said these in a press briefing on Saturday afternoon.
The DMP commissioner said that tight security measures would be taken to ensure peaceful shopping, check onuse of fake currency notes, and security of people in the market places and shopping malls ahead of the Eid.
Besides, during the Ramadan and the Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest Muslim festival, markets and shopping malls brim with customers, he added.
“In this regard, DMP will guard roads, markets and mosques” said DMP Commissioner. Community police will also work along with police, he said.
At that time, he also advised people to be careful about monetary transactions of all kinds and to take the help of police against snatching by miscreants, Benzir said.
He added that Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and additional police would be deployed in the capital as well as in other parts of the county. The DMP commissioner said that Close Circuit Cameras would be installed in the shopping malls in the capital.
He further said that that DMP would continue its drives against food adulteration during the month of Ramadan. The DMP check-posts and the mobile courts will jointly work to reduce the food adulterations and ensuring the security.
Benazir also expressed hope that the government would enact a strict law to combat the use of formali in food items.
He said that the DMP mobile team would break the shops on footpaths during anti-formalin drive.
DMP’s Additional Commissioner Abdul Jalil Mondol, Ibrahim Fatemi and Masuf Hasan were present in the event.
