No respite for big fishes: ACC

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) will catch all big fishes to stamp out corruption in the country. There is no abatement for them, said its Chairman Iqbal Mahmud.
“Although the anti-graft body has some limitations, it will never give up its war against corruption,” he said while speaking in a function titled
“Sonak-Sojon, Yes-Yes Friends, YPack National conference-2018” at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka on Monday.
Transparency International, Bangladesh (TIB) arranged the programme. A total of 2264 members of Sonak-Sojon, Yes-Yes Friends, Ypack from 45 regions over the country took part in the function.
Iqbal Mahmud said, there is lack of good governance, without which it is tough to reduce corruption. Earlier I thought that I am alone for this war. But today we are hopeful because we have seen a lot of people with us.
It is hopeful that the young generation hates corruption and it is truly possible to reduce corruption from the country if the young generation come forward to eradicate it, he said.
The ACC chairman said, to reduce corruption the engagement of mass people is a must. To form more and more social organizations is also equally important, he added.
He said, everybody has right to criticism ACC. He requested all to criticize this institution because it will help them to focus on what they would have to do.
He also assured that the ACC is with the people of Bangladesh. We will never stop our war against corruption and will reach our goal.
In his welcome speech, TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said, TIB first started to aware people against corruption. Now it has become a social movement. But there is no chance to satisfaction, we have to go so far.
The programmee was inaugurated by ex-chairman of TIB M Hafizuddin Khan.
