Stringent steps taken: Nahid: No question paper leakage in next SSC exam

M M Jasim :The Education Ministry is committed to check the question paper leakage and take all out efforts to restore the image of the education in the country. It has already taken stringent measures to prevent question-paper leakage ahead of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, which is scheduled to begin on February 1, the ministry sources said. The ministry faced criticism from different quarters for the last few years for incidents of question paper leakage. It was also blamed for the ministry’s failure in checking question paper leakage. The ministry asked the law enforcing agencies particularly Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police to keep the suspicious people and institutions under their surveillance ahead of SSC examinations. The ministry held a meeting on Monday at the Secretariat where Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, officials of the ministry and law enforcing agencies were present. After the meeting Nurul Islam Nahid told the reporters that there was no scope to leak the question papers this year as the ministry had brought all the suspicious quarters under surveillance. He warned that legal action would be taken under the Public Examination (offense) Act-1980 and the Information and Communication Technology (Amendment) Act-2013 against those who would be involved in question paper leakage.Monitoring is going on those social media and coaching centers involved in question paper leakage over the years, the minister said. Including facebook and coaching centers, the officials involved in question settings, distribution and processing or related other fields to stop leakage, he added.The minister said, “No one will be spared for their involvement in frequent question-paper leakage. All the officials of the BG Press and their near and dear ones are being monitored.” “The law enforcing agencies will be vigilant during the printing and distribution moments. No one will be able to leak question and even they will not get any scope to memorise any question,” Nahid said. He also said that, nobody would get any question paper on the facebook as the BTRC would delete the post. The police will also arrest those people who post the question paper. The minister also cautioned the students and the guardians not to look for the leakage of question papers. He warned the dishonest teachers of tough action if they are found involved in encouraging the students to follow any wrong path. “We have already brought some dishonest teachers under justice and some investigations are going on, he reminded.
