Our Correspondent :
Though it has been four years, but there has been no progress of the case of hacking to death of Shahjahan Ali Mandal (45), vice-president of Ishwardi’s Pakshi Union Juba League’s 6 No. ward. The PBI is still investigating the case. March 24 marked the fourth anniversary of the murder.
It is learned that Ashraful Biswas and Abul Hossain, two eyewitnesses of the murder, testified in the court and now they too are terrified by the threats of the accused. On condition of anonymity, PBI sources said that all the seven accused in the case are now out on bail. The other four accused Shaheen, Rinku, Nayan and Chand have been acquitted in the case.
Shahjahan’s younger brother Jalal Uddin expressed deep sorrow and said that all the accused in the case had already been arrested but after being released on bail, they roamed the area and spoke arrogantly. In the night of March 24, 2017, on the street in front of the tea shop adjacent to the new Rooppur football ground, the terrorists brutally killed Shahjahan Ali by hacking him one by one and smashing his face with bricks. They also severely injured Ward Juba League president Ashraful Biswas and Abul Hossain, who witnessed the incident. But these terrorists were not punished in four years.
Now everyone is free on bail. The family and witnesses of Shahjahan have alleged that they are constantly threatening Shahjahan’s family to withdraw the case and pressuring two eyewitnesses to withdraw their statements.
Anwar Hossain, President of Pakshi Union Juba League, expressed his displeasure over the fact that the case of public hacking to death has not been tried for four years. We want a speedy trial for this murder.
