Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon on Thursday said the prices of sugar and other essentials which are largely consumed during Ramadan will not be hiked before and during the holy month.
“The market monitoring team has started its operation to monitor the prices of essential commodities. The prices will remain stable during the upcoming fasting month. Besides, some the prices of essentials, including sugar, may fall during the Ramadan,” he said.
The DSCC mayor was addressing a reception accorded to him by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad) at the Jatiya Press Club.
Khokon also said the drive against adulteration of food will begin next week for ensuring safe food during the holy month.
Talking about the dilapidated roads of the capital, the DSCC Mayor said the renovation work on roads will begin in September or October this year.
