No post-election victory procession: CMP Commissioner

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir has said that all preparations have been completed for the City Corporation elections. There were no incidents due to the check post. A few isolated incidents have occurred, he said. But we managed to stop what we feared. We would like to inform that the election of Chattogram City Corporation will be festive for those who have national identity card. But for those who do not have a national identity card, the door is closed for them .
No outsider can come and influence the election. CMP Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir said this at a briefing held at Dampara Police Lines yesterday . He said there is working days on election day. Many will go to work. They are also being asked to keep their national identity cards. Those who come to the polling station will also bring their national identity cards.
We want to prevent outsiders. CMP Commissioner said we are prepared to deal with the risks we have assessed. According to the election rules, there is no opportunity for any procession, assembly or victory procession in the next 48 hours from the day of election. Whoever wins, no victory procession can be held. Replying to a question, the CMP commissioner said that the allegations made by the BNP about the detention of their leaders and activists were not correct at all. We are conducting regular police activities. I have come to know that those who have been arrested are the accused in one or another case or warrant.
The CMP commissioner said a total of 16,000 law enforcers will work in the elections. About 9,000 of them are police members and others , BGB members . Our members have already moved to the center. Adequate security arrangements have been made at each center. Out of a total of 635 polling stations, we have identified 418 polling stations as risky .
CMP Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SM Mostaq Ahmed Khan, Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Amir Zafar, District Superintendent of Police SM Rashidul Haque were present at the briefing among others.
