Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman on Sunday said there is no possible threat of militant attack in the port city during the upcoming national election.
“Though there is no intelligence of possible threat of militant attack in the port city, law enforcers are keeping their eyes open and have taken preparations so that no quarter can create any kind of untoward situation ahead of election,” the CMP commissioner said.
He came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after attending the annual security mock drill of Counter Terrorism (CT) Unit of CMP. The mock drill was performed by Special Weapons Tactics, Crisis Response Team and Bomb Disposal Unit of CT at the central playground of Dampara Police Lines.
The CMP chief said, “I can assure the city dwellers that CMP is now capable of handling any kind of untoward situation, including militant activities.”
