No place for fundamentalism, fanaticism in Bangladesh’

Mayor (State Minister) of Rangpur City Corporation and valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmmed Jhantu has said there is no place for fundamentalism, fanaticism, terrorism and militancy in Bangladesh.
“Those, who have been conducting terrorist activities, militancy, anarchy and secret killings, are enemies of the country,” he said at a discussion arranged at Dharmosava Mandir premises in Rangpur on Thursday afternoon as chief guest.
International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Bangladesh organised the discussion on the occasion of pulling rope of ‘Return Rathyatra’ to conclude nine-day (from July 6 to 14) celebrations of the Shri Shri Jagannathdeb’s Rathyatra.
The nine-day programmes included Rathyatra, Agnihotro Jaggya, Sangkirton,
discussion on Jagannathdeb’s Leela Mahattya, prayers, Mohaharinam Sangkirton,
Shri Shri Jagannathdeb’s Raj Bhog, Bhagabotiyo discussions, Return Rathyatra and cultural functions.The City Mayor said Bangladesh is a land of communal harmony for time immemorial and no communal force could destroy the non-communal tradition through conducting terrorist and militant activities on this soil.
 “Every religion speaks about peace. Bangladesh belongs to the Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Buddhists and people of other faiths and everyone should stand firmly like that in 1971 to resist terrorism, fundamentalist extremism and militancy,” he said.
Earlier, thousands of the Hindu devotees participated in the Return Rathyatra from Dharmoshava Mandir to Paul Para Madam Mohan Mandir in the city to
end the nine-day celebrations amid huge festivities, religious fervour, solemnity and gaiety.
With Vice-president of ISKCON Bangladesh Shreemot Bhaktipriyo Godadhar Goswami Moharaj Brahmachari in the chair, Member of the Parliament from reserved constituency Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia addressed the discussion as special guest.
Learned Judge of the Special Judge Court of Rangpur Shri Naresh Chandra Sarker, Trusty of the Hindu Religious Welfare Trust Advocate Rothish Chandra Bhowmick, General Secretary of city Awami League Tushar Kanti Mandal and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) Priyosindhu Talukder addressed, among others.
The speakers said Bangladesh has set up a glaring example of peace and communal harmony, people of all faiths have been living friendly on this soil and working unitedly for advancing the nation towards peace, prosperity and progress.
They called upon the common people irrespective of caste, creed and religion to become united in foiling conspiracies being hatched by vested quarters to destabilise the country through terrorist activities, militancy and secret killings.
