Sylhet Regional Sub-Director Office of Technical Education Board has not seen the light ever after five years of its inauguration. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the office on September 17, 2013.
In spite of having all the amenities including modern buildings, there was no manpower, so the activities were not started. In the long run, the officials and employees of the government did not set foot in the office.
Md Iqbal Chowdhury, head of Power Department of the Sylhet Polytechnic Institute has received the charge of the Regional Inspector of the office. ‘Due to lack of adequate manpower, the work of the regional sub-director office of technical education board could not be started. Work will start when the employment is over,’ he said.
In spite of all the facilities including smart decoration, the deputy directors, office assistants don’t set the foot in the office once a year. And due to this, essential materials are damaging. Spiders are made cobweb in every room of the building.
Deputy Director of Sylhet Polytechnic Institute Principal Engineer Dr. Md. Abdullah said that the work of the office has stopped because there is no manpower. ‘Because of this the technical education institutions, officials of the organization, students are suffering. Manpower recruitment process is underway, work will start soon,’ he added.
