No indulgence to fanatics: Ex-Mayor

General secretary of the Chattogram City Awami League and former City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, has termed the fatwas issued by tem religions groups as idle speculation. He made the remarks at an executive meeting of the metropolitan Awami League on Monday afternoon.
AJM Nasir Uddin said, “We have resisted the anti-independence and anti-liberation forces by standing on the platform of the metropolitan Awami League.”
Some sectarian groups are abusing the sacred religion and issuing fatwas which are against humanity. We faced such a situation in 1971.
He said, “On that day we established this independent Bangladesh through armed struggle at the call of Bangabandhu.” No evil power will be allowed to stand in the name of religion in .
At the meeting, AJM Nasir Uddin announced a 10-day program. He called for anti-terrorism and anti-militancy protest rallies at six important places in the city.
The program will be held at Alangkar Mor, Bangabandhu Sculpture Chattar in Barapol, Bahaddarhat Mor, Oxygen Junction, EPZ Chattar, Karnafuli New Bridge and Dewanhat Chattar.
At the meeting, AJM Nasir Uddin announced the program of protest rally at the initiative of Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League on December 9 at 3 pm on the Andarkilla Chattar.
