The government has decided not to allow plying of heavy truck, lorry and covered-van on the roads and highways three days ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr in order to tackle the extra passengers’ pressure across the country.
Besides, the decision was also taken to keep CNG refueling stations open for 24 hours for seven days before and five days after the Eid. Nazrul Islam, Secretary of Road and Highways Division said this after a meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday.
Holidaymakers will have a smoother journey on the roads and highways ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr compared to the previous years, the Secretary hoped.
“The public will not suffer more on the highways during the Eid holidays this year, BRTC will also operate a special bus service and mobile courts will remain on at all times to conduct drives to check on ticket prices and unfit vehicles, Nazrul said.
However, vehicles carrying daily essentials and medicines will not fall under the purview of the instructions, he added.
This decision has been taken to ensure the better journey of the all type passengers on the highway, added the Secretary.
