The holy Eid-ul-Azha prayer this year will not be held at the historic Sholakia Eidgha ground in Kishoreganj due to coronavirus.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Kishoreganj and President, Sholakia Eidgha Managing Committee (SEMC) Mohammad Shamim Alam confirmed the matter. The decision was taken unanimously at a meeting of the Sholakia Eidgah Committee.
DC also said, millions of devotees gathered at the Sholakia. At present, the horror of corona is increasing day by day. Therefore, considering the security, this year’s Eid-ul-Azhar Jamaat will not be held here.
, ‘Eid-ul-Azhar Jamaat will not be held in the mosque on a large scale. Multiple congregations will be held in different mosques of the town while maintaining social distance and hygiene. We are also encouraging everyone in the building to congregate on the roof of a multi-storey residential building,DC in Kishoreganj added.
It is to be noted that Eid-ul-Fitr congregation was not held at Sholakia ground due to coronavirus. This field has a reputation for being the largest Eid congregation in the country.
It is said that in 1826, a quarter of a million worshipers prayed together in the Eid congregation at ground.
