No compromise with substandard medicines: Nasim

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim on Wednesday said there is no compromise with substandard medicines for the sake of protecting public health.
“We will not tolerate any irregularities in the health sector…. Alongside ensuring quality production of all kinds of medicines, the government is strengthening its monitoring to ensure quality medical education,” he told a meet the press in the conference room of the ministry.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Bangladesh Health Reporters Forum (BHRF) jointly organized the meet the press.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque, Health Secretary Sirajul Islam and BHRF President Toufiq Maruf, among others, addressed the programme.
Nasim said, “All private medical colleges are under strict monitoring to comply with conditions of the private medical college policy.
“We are overseeing academic activities of all private medical colleges to improve medical education in the country,” the minister said.
Nasim said, “Some private medical colleges were set up ignoring conditions of private medical college policy. We are intensifying our efforts to implement private medical college policy to improve medical education and create brilliant physicians in the country.”
