Minister for Housing and Public Works Engr. Mosharraf Hossain said there is no obstruction to construct the much talked Bay Terminal under Chittagong Port Authority ( CPA) at the estuary of river Karnaphuli .
He disclosed it while addressing a conference titled ‘Proper City Planning and Chittagong ‘ held a Chittagong Club yesterday morning as Chief Guest.
While focusing on planned city urbanization , he said Chittagong Development Authority has taken a number project for urban areas and also planned for constructing a natural enriched Green City beside the bay of Bengal coast in Chittagong. The minister said CPA wants to construct Bay Terminal beside the Green City but CDA agreed to allow them to construct BT subject to prohibition of plying of heavy transports of CPA on roads meant for Green City. CPA consensual agreed to the proposals of CDA and CDA agreed to issue NOC to CPA regarding Bay Terminal.
He also mentioned that tourism industry will built up in Chittagong if the city is developed with planned way and said Chittagong is more beautiful than the Singapore considering its geographical locations in the south east asia. Among others, Chairman of CDA Abdus Salam, Director of Alliance Franchaise Rafayet Yegar, President of Chittagong Union of Journalists Ezaz Yousufi, Prof. Shirin Akhter of Chittagong University were present on the occasion.
