No chance for militancy to deepen its root: Rab DG

Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) Benazir Ahmed here on Sunday said militancy will never be allowed to deepen its root in Bangladesh.
“Militancy won’t be allowed to raise its head in Bangladesh,” he said while exchanging views with journalists at the police super’s office.
Noting that they have found the link of Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh
(JMB) to the attempt on the life of Pabna priest Luke Sarkar, the Rab chief said they were investigating the incident.
He also said the two foreigners were killed in the country for no reason. Benazir also revealed that 57 JMB members were arrested across the country from January to November this year and law enforcers will continue their drives to arrest the militants.
He also underscored the need for taking concerted efforts to bring the militants, anti-state and anti-social killers to justice. Replying to a query, the Rab director general said the law enforcers were monitoring the security of foreigners working for several organisations here, including Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.
DIG (Rajshahi Range) Iqbal Bahar, Rab-12 CO Shahbuddin Khan and Pabna Police Super Alamgir Kabir were also present at the programme.
