The Supreme Court on Sunday cleared the way for Habiganj Municipality Mayor GK Gaus to resume his official duties.
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain upheld a High Court order that stayed the suspension order of GK Gaus.
The chamber judge of the apex court passed “no order” on a petition filed by the government seeking stay on the HC order.
The mayor’s lawyer advocate M Masud Rana told newsmen that the High Court order that stayed the suspension will remain in force following the apex court’s order. Now, there is no legal bar for Gaus to resume his duties as the Habiganj Municipality Mayor, the lawyer added.
