Education Minister Dipu Moni on Wednesday hinted that educational institutions might not be reopened in November this year due to the possibility of second wave of Coronavirus attack.
No annual examinations will be held for class 6-9 students this year. “Many countries where schools were reopened are now going to close Educational institutions. Besides, there is anxiety about the coronavirus situation in the winter season,” Dipu Moni said while addressing a press conference held virtually.
She said, “We will think about reopening of schools when we shall feel there are no health risks for students, teachers and guardians.”
It is not possible for anyone to say when that situation will improve, she added.
No annual examinations for class 6-9 students will be held this year. The education Minister also said, there will be no annual examination for students of class six to nine this year.
There will be no results, no grading, the Minister said in the virtual conference.
National Curriculum Textbook Board (NCTB) will prepare a brief syllabus for class 6-9 students, which can be completed within 30 working days, she said.
Dipu Moni said, “The students have to get a opportunity to achieve minimum learning from the syllabus prepared by the NCTB.”
She said that assignments will be given to the students every week.
After getting assignments they can submit their tasks through online or in the classrooms, she added.
The education minister said, no grading or no mental pressure should be kind on the students.
Everyone will be promoted to the next higher class.
The assignments are only to understand their shortcoming so that those weaknesses are to be overcome in next class, the Minister said.
