Chittagong Bureau :Noted educationist and Chairman of University Grants Commission Prof. Abdul Mannan said revolution of technology dependent education is experiencing in Bangladesh now.Besides, the country, our engineers, technologists, researchers and scientists are being honoured abroad . He said the youths are advancing the country gradually and the previous generations brought the independence for us. He disclosed it while addressing the reception function to him and discussion meeting in observance of the 13rd University Day held at CUET auditorium on Tuesday as Chief Guest. Vice Chancellor of CUET Prof. Dr. Jahangir Alam was present in it as guest of honour. The Chief Guest also said the country will be turned into a middle income country by 2021 . He said foreign dependency on technology was lessened than before as our technologists, engineers are working with good reputations in home and abroad. Pro-VC of the university Prof. Rafiqul Alam and the Dean of Civil Enginering Faculty Dr. Swapan Kumar Palit were present in it as special guests. Registrar of the university Prof. Dr. Farukuzzaman Chowdhury presided over the reception function. The day long observance of the University day includes voluntary blood donation program, tree planting, hoisting of national flag, jubilant rally and friendly football match etc. Among others Teachers Association President Prof. Dr. Badius Salam, President of Officers Association Dr. Mir Murtaza Reza Khan, President of Employees Union Mr. Sukumal Kumar Shil spoke on the occasion. Associate Professor of Civil Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Ayesha Akhter conducted the whole programmes. Mentionable that CUET launched journey as Chittagong Engineering College in 1968 and later it was turned as Bangladesh Institute of Technology(BIT), Chittagong in 1986 as a autonomous institution. BIT Chittagong in a ordinance of 2003, it transformed into a university named Chittgong University of Engineering & Technology which started academic courses as university from September, 2003.
