Speakers at seminar here have said there is no alternative to producing skilled human resources through popularising technical and vocational education among young generations for accelerating national uplift.
They were addressing the day-long seminar organised at Rangpur Polytechnic Institute auditorium on ‘Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Bangladesh: Past and Present’ on Thursday.
The Skill & Training Enhancement Project (STEP) of the Directorate of Technical Education under the Ministry of Education organised the seminar.
Divisional Commissioner (Additional Secretary) Muhammad Dilwar Bakht attended and addressed the seminar as the chief guest with Principal of Rangpur Polytechnic Institute Engineer Syed Nurunnabi in the chair.
Project Director of the STEP Muhammad Imran, Director (PIU) of the Directorate of Technical Education ANM Salahuddin Khan, Vice-principal of Rangpur Polytechnic Institute Farid Uddin Ahmed addressed the seminar as the special guests.
Moderated by Instructor Shahida Binte Bari of Rangpur Polytechnic Institute, Heads of its all departments, Headmasters and Principals of different schools and technical educational institutions of Rangpur and guardian-members participated in the seminar.
The speakers said the technical and vocational education has already become popular as rate of admission increasing during the past six and a half years period to produce skilled workforces like engineers, planners and architects to build a developed Bangladesh.
The chief guest narrated importance of ICT-based science, technical and vocational education and asked for ensuring time- befitting education to turn the huge population into human resources for accelerating national advancement in the competitive 21st century.
