Minister for Housing and Public Works Engr. Moshraf Hossain said there is no alternatives of tax to build the country into prosperous nation .
He said the jurisdiction of tax areas should be enhanced. He disclosed it while addressing the meeting on National tax day and the preparatory meeting on Chittagong Tax Fair-2015 at Agrabad Govt building premises yesterday morning as chief guest as arranged in observance of the national tax day .
In the inaugural session of fair, 27 tax payers have been awarded with best tax paying award.
The chief guest in his address said about 16 crores of people reside in our country and 4 crores people desire to pay t ax
.At present only 12 lakh people are paying tax , he added. But due non-expansion of jurisdictions, it became failed , he added. He stressed the need for dynamism in this sector .
He also praised the tax fair in each upazilas which is good sign but should be careful of fearness among the tax payers. The minister also disclosed that a 40 -storied Tax Bhaban will be constructed in Agrabad commercial hub very shortly.
Convenor of the Tax Day celebration committee and Appellate Commissioner of Chittagong Kazi Imdadul Hoque presided over the the meeting.
Among others Chittagong chamber president Mahbubul Hoque, President of Ctg Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Khalilur rahman, Customs and VAT Commissioner Syed Golam Kibria, DIG of police Chttagong Range Shafiqul Islam spoke on the occasion.
