The Supreme Court (SC) adjourned the appeal hearing of condemned war criminal Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami till Tuesday.
The 4-member appeal division bench, led by Chief Justice SK Sinha on Monday passed the order after hearing his appeal plea for third day. The other members include-Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Justice Hasan Foez Siddique.
The other two hearings were held earlier on November 17 and September 9. Defense
lawyer SM Shahjahan moved for the appeal petition.
Earlier on October 29, three-member International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 comprising of its chairman Justice M Enayetur Rahim, Justice Anwarul Haque and Justice Jahangir Hossain sentenced Nizami to death in the case of crimes against humanity during the country’s war of independence in 1971.
