Nine UZs flooded in Naogaon

The flood situation has worsened as nine out of 11 upazilas in the district have been inundated by floodwater.
Officials of Water Development Board said Chhoto Jamuna river was flowing 82cm above danger level and Atrai river 208cm above danger level.
District flood control officials said about 349 villages of 60 unions have been left marooned by floodwater in the district.
Apart from this, standing crops on 40,000 hectares of land went under water.
Deputy Commissioner Dr M Aminur Rahman said the district administration is trying its level best to mitigate the sufferings of flood victims.
District administration is distributing relief materials among the flood-affected people of nine upazilas.
The deputy commissioner said the district administration has already distributed about 99 tonnes of rice among flood-affected people.
3,000 flood victims get relief in Gaibandha
BSS from Gaibandha adds: A total of 3000 flood affected people of Shaghata upazila in the district got relief materials from Mahmud Hasan Ripon, former president of Bangladesh Chattra League, on Wednesday afternoon.
The packets of relief material were distributed to the flood victims of the upazila in different places to mitigate their sufferings caused by natural calamity. Each of the packets contained rice, sugar, chira and muri.
Speaking on the occasion Mahmud Hasan Ripon said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stood beside the flood affected people and facing the situation across the country efficiently.
Sufficient relief materials and cash were in stock and the government was providing all sorts of supports to the affected people so there was no reason to be worried, Mahmud also said.
President of upazila Awami League Wares Ali Prodhan, general secretary Shamsil Arefin Titu, joint secretary of district Sechchhasebak League Tariqul Islam and local elite were present on the occasion.
The people from all walks of life appreciated the relief distribution activity at the personal initiative of Mahmud Hasan Ripon.
