Nine new HC judges take oath

The nine High Court division judges, whose appointments were confirmed on Monday, have taken oath on Tuesday.
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain administered the oath session on the Judges’ Lounge at 11.00 am, said a notification issued by Md Saifur Rahman, spokesperson of the Supreme Court. Earlier on Monday, President Md Abdul Hamid permanently appointed nine additional judges for in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court.
The newly permanent judges are Muhammad Mahbub-ul-Islam, Shahed Nuruddin, Md Zakir Hossain, Md Akhtaruzzaman, Md Mahmud Hasan Talukder, Kazi Ebadat Hossain, KM Zahid Sarwar, AKM Zahirul Haque and Kazi Zinat Hoque.
After the President’s approval a gazette notification signed by Md Golam Sarwar, Secretary of Law and Justice Division under the Ministry of Law, was issued on Monday.
The gazette notification said the appointments were made by the President in consultation with the Chief Justice in accordance with the powers conferred by Article 95 of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
On October 20 in 2019, the President appointed them as additional judges of the High Court Division for two years.
