Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department (CIID) on Thursday recovered 330 grams of gold strips worth Tk 17 lakh at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
Tipped off, a CIID team searched a passenger’s baggage coming from Dubai. He was identified as Yousuf Chowdhury, resident of Feni.
In primary investigation, the team did not find any gold in his body and baggage, but nine gold strips were found hidden after a scan in the handles of the baggage.
Accused Yousuf Chowdhury is under investigation of CIID and the recovered gold strips have been deposited to the Customs warehouse.
