A nine-feet long python was caught from a dates tree at Patharghata upazila in Barguna. Haringhata forest bit officer Al-Amin confirmed the matter.
The snake was caught on Friday morning from Ruhita village near Bihango Island in Sadar union of the upazila.
It is learned that in the morning, some children were picking dates from a tree with sticks in Ruhita village. At that time, the children screamed when they saw a snake wrapped with a palm frond.
Locals spotting the matter informed the Village Tiger Response Team (VTRT). Later, VTRT member Md. Zakir Munshi came to the spot and grabbed a 9-feet long python from the tree.
At around 11 am, the snake was released at Haringhata tourist center through the forest department.
Haringhata bit officer under the Patharghata range of the forest department. Al-Amin, nature-loving journalist Arifur Rahman, journalist and researcher Shafiqul Islam Khokon, Tiger team member Zakir Munshi and others were also present at that time.
