Leaders of Nilphamari Chamber of Commerce and Industries and district unit of Shop Owners Association engaged in conflict over arranging a month long trade fair at local boro math from yesterday ( July 21) as the former organisation claim that it would boost up small entrepreneurs of the area while the later objected the step claiming that such kind of fair would likely to hamper their business prior to Eid ul Azha.
In protest against the step to arranging the fair, shop owners association kept their shops shut down shut in the district town from 5 pm to 8 pm on Saturday and arranged a meeting at local municipality market.
The shop owners’ leaders later handed over a memorandum to local law maker also former Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor seeking his interference to stop arranging such fair till Eid ul Azha.
While addressing the meeting, Atiar Rahman, General Secretary of District Unit of Shop Owners’ Association said that they could do brisk business at time of two Eids in a year and remain idle all the year long.
