The National Identity card (NIDs) forgery is continuing. Fake NID card is available if there is money.
Besides, the Rohingya people in Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar area are getting NID card paying money.
However, National Identity Registration (NID) Wing of the Election Commission (EC) has started a special drive from yesterday to disband the NID forgery rings.
Earlier, the allegations have been raised against EC officials that they have provided NID to the Rohingya people who fled Myanmar after persecution by Myanmar Army in the Rakhine state. Last Saturday DB arrested five who provided fake NID to one Mamun to sanction loan from a private bank.
Recently, the Meherpur’s Gangni Upazila Election Office has been accused of removing a living person from the voter list by showing him dead. Before easing Kustia’s NID forgery incident at the Gangni Election Office has caused a stir in the area.
Arrested over issuing fake COVID-19 certificates, JKG Healthcare Chairman Dr Sabrina Chowdhury’s story is also another example for NID forgery.
After a various NID forgery EC finally decided to do something over the issue. Director General of the NID Registration Wing Brigadier General Saidul Islam said, we will vanish the forgery ring. Ten regional powerful special teams including EC Secretariat’s high officials, NID Wing and project officials will be form to investigate the issue.
He said, there have been allegations of involvement of temporary staff data entry operators recently hired in outsourcing with the fraud ring. Based on the information, the seeds of the fraud cycle will be eradicated from within. Two committees have been set up to investigate the incident. A committee has started work.
He said, adding that the EC database was secure. Now at the upazila level also a five level security system has been introduced in the server.
