NGO worker stabbed dead in broad daylight in city

A NGO worker was stabbed to death by muggers in broad daylight in Dhaka’s Dhamrai upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Ismail Hossain, 23, a worker of Sandimanab Unnayan Sangstha. He was the son of late Abdul Alim, a resident of Amrail Gunapara village in the upazila.
However, police have detained Rajib Hossain, 30, in this connection.
Locals said three muggers, including Rajib, blocked the NGO worker at Gaontara Bridge at noon while he returning home after collecting loan money from the borrowers.
The snatchers stabbed Ismail Hossain when he confronted with them and denied to hand over money bag, leaving him dead on the spot, they added.
Dhamrai Police Station OC Dipok Saha said police recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue.
A case has been filed with the police station in this regard, he added.
