NGO official held with foreign currency

Members of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested a Non-Government Organination (NGO) officer with huge foreign currency worth about Taka 35 lakh in a drive from Shah Amanat Bridge area under Bakalia thana in the city on Monday.
The arrested was identified as Mohammad Selim Ullah,38, son of Mostaq Ahmed, an accountants of Co-Operatives for Human Activities, an NGO, works for Rohingya camp, hailed from Cox’s bazar sadar upazila.
A team of Bakalia thana police detained him with 112 pieces US dollar of $ 100 denominations and 1,880 pieces Malaysian ringgit of 50 denominations, 310 pieces Malaysian ringgit of 100 denominations from the area.
The arrested confessed that he was carrying currencies on behalf of the NGO owner Mohammad Ayas., police sources added.
