The Police Headquarters here on Monday said they received the High Court order for the arrest of three former RAB officials who had been dismissed following allegations of their involvement in the killing of seven people in Narayanganj. The Police Headquarters sent the order this (Monday) morning to Narayanganj district police to arrest the three former RAB officials. The High Court order was received at the Police Headquarters through fax on Sunday night, AIG of Police (Media) Jalaluddin told UNB. Earlier, on Sunday, the High Court issued a rule asking the Home Secretary for taking immediate steps to arrest three former Rab officials who had been dismissed for their jobs following allegations of their involvement in the killing of seven people in Narayanganj. Three former RAB-11 officials — Lt Col Tarek Syed Mahmud, Maj Arif Hossain and Navy’s Lt Commander MM Rana — were sent on forced retirement following the allegations of their involvement in the killing of seven people, including Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker. On May 5, the HC bench issued a suo moto rule asking the government to form a seven-member committee to investigate the allegation that Rab personnel were involved in the killing of Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and six others. On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah area in Narayanganj city. Hours into their abduction, senior lawyer of the Narayanganj District Judge’s Court, Chandan Kumar Sarker, and his driver were abducted while they were going to capital Dhaka. Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from the Shitalakhya and Dhaleshwari rivers on April 30. Besides, the body of Jahangir, the car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the Shitalakhya River on May 1. –UNB, Dhaka.
