Narayanganj Zila Parishad has won the confidence of people from all walks of life through development works, Chairman of the Zila Parishad, Anower Hossain, said.
” Narayanganj Zila Parishad has been persistently serving the people of its five upazilas. We have been improving the infrastructures and constructing new roads, bridges, culverts and mosques-temples” he said.
Talking to this reporter personally, he also mentioned that the Zila Parishad was also creating new employments for the poor while promoting the rootless people with stipend for education. Moreover, the Zila Parishad has been distributing honorarium for freedom fighters and imparting computer training to young men and women.
“We are working on child projects to promote Bengali culture,” Anower Hossain said adding that the Zila Parishad was relentlessly working to create a digital city according to Vision-2021. The Zila Parishad has been restructured to ease the access to information of people, maintaining transparency and assuring accountability. The chairman mentioned that the Zila Parishad has been regularly updating their own website to ensure accountability to people.
“We are committed to implement Vision-2021 and urge the mass people to cooperate us,” he added.
It can be mentioned that District Board was established in 1885 under Local Self Govt Act. Narayanganj Zila Parishad was formed in June of 1988 while it was operating earlier as Mahokuma (sub-division). Zila Parishad is the center of a three-layered local government system.
