N’ganj 7-murder HC unhappy over probe

UNB, Dhaka :Disappointed with the modus operandi of the investigation into the sensational Narayanganj seven-murder case, the High Court on Tuesday asked the authorities concerned to be cautious in carrying out the current investigation so that it does not become questionable.An HC division bench, comprising Justice M Rezaul Haque and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore, made the observations after receiving three separate progress reports submitted by the public administration, Police, and Rapid Action Battalion through Additional Attorney General Momtaz Uddin Fakir.The HC also fixed December 10 for further order in this regard. Raising a question mark over the current inquiry, the HC said after the incident, all members of RAB-11 were in service and some of them were held and most of them remained in service. Among them, statements are being recorded after bringing them at office, said the HC, terming it dubious.On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah area in Narayanganj city. Hours into their abduction, senior lawyer of the Narayanganj District Judge’s Court, Chandan Kumar Sarker, and his driver were abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from the Shitalakhya and Dhaleshwari rivers on April 30. Besides, the body of Jahangir, the car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the Shitalakhya River on May 1.
