N’ganj-5 by-poll on June 26

The bye-election to Narayanganj-5 parliamentary constituency that fell vacant following the death of Jatiya Party MP Nasim Osman will be held on June 26.
Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad announced the election schedule at a press conference at the EC media centre on Monday.
The last date for the submission of nomination papers has been set for May 29, while the scrutiny of the papers will be done on June
 1. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is June 9.
EC’s deputy secretary Mihir Sarwar Morshed was appointed as the returning officer for the by-election to the seat comprising Narayanganj Thana and Bandar Thana.
Nasim Osman, a Jatiya Party presidium member was elected from the seat in January 5 election, his fourth time win on JP ticket. He died on April 30 at the age of 65 while undergoing treatment at a hospital in India.
