Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader
on Tuesday reiterated that the next general election would be held in line with the provisions of Constitution.
“The way elections are being held in other democratic countries of the world…the next general polls will be held in Bangladesh following its constitution,” he said while speaking at a relief distribution programme, joining virtually from his official residence.
The relief was distributed among the affected families of Hindu community at Chowmuhani in Noakhali district.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said the election would not be halted whether the BNP joins it or not.
After being failed in the field of politics, the communal evil forces are now trying to destroy the country’s communal harmony, he said, adding: “The recent attacks on the Hindu community proved that they were still active in the country.”
Quader assured that the masterminds behind the recent communal violence would be brought to justice after indentifying them.
Conspiracies continue to destroy the communal harmony here aiming to deteriorate the government’s good relations with the country’s Hindu community and India, he continued.
Speaking at the meeting, AL presidium member Begum Matia Chowdhury said when Bangladesh is advancing towards the expected prosperity, the defeated forces are involved in intrigues against it.
