 1 killed in Bagerhat road mishap

One passenger was killed on the spot and 9 others including the driver were injured when a speeding three wheeler Mahindra vehicle bound for Bagerhat district town turned turtle on Bagerhat-Rupsa Zila Parishad Road near at Karapara Union Parishad office, 3 kilometers away from here on Monday in the morning. The deceased was identified as Md. Ezazel Khan (45) hailed from the village Sayeed Mahalla under Fakirhat Upazila in the district. It is reported that the ill-fated Mahindra was coming from Fakirhat to Bagerhat and when it reached the occurrence its driver lost his control over the vehicle and it turned turtle on the road. As a result, one passenger was killed on the spot and 9 others were injured. Being informed of the matter police rushed to the spot, recovered the injured passengers and admitted them to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for treatment while the body was sent to the morgue of the Hospital for its autopsy.

Human chain demanding arrest of plotters of 2 poura mayors

The employees of Hakimpur Municipality in Dinajpur formed a human chain on Tuesday demanding arrest and capital punishment of the plotters for killing their mayor.
The hour long human chain was formed at around 11.00 am at Hakimpur Hili Charmathamor area in municipality under Dinajpur district. Employees, staff and elected councillors of all wards were present and spoke at the human chain programme on Tuesday.Minhajul Islam Liton , Panel Mayor of Hakimpur Municipality said that BGB and RAB men already arrested one men in connection with the plot.
During a raid at Hili Hotel in Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur on July 1 night BGB and Rab men seized a map mentioning names of two mayors including Jamil Hossain Chalanta Mayor of Hakimapur and Habibur Rahman, Mayor of Joypurhat Municipality, both elected as mayor with boat symbol last year.

Housewife commits suicide in Jessore

Benapole: A housewife, who was traumatised by the death of her newborn baby over two months back, allegedly committed suicide at Navaran village in Sharsha upazila on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Anjana Rani, 20, wife of Palash Kumar, a resident of Navaran village. Quoting locals, police said Anjana had given birth to a baby two and a half months back. But the child died after eight days of its birth and the incident made Anjana utterly depressed. She hung herself with the ceiling of her room around 10pm. Later, she was whisked off to Jessore Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared her dead. An unnatural death case was filed with Kotwali Police Station, reports UNB.

2 Satkhira arms traders injured in ‘gunfight’ with cops

Satkhira: Two suspected arms traders sustained bullet injuries during a ‘gunfight’ with police at Jalalabad in Kalaroa upazila early Wednesday. The injured arms traders were identified as Ramzan Mollah, a resident of Gharchhala village in Satkhira Sadar Upazila, and Mafizul Islam of Madra village in Kalaroa upazila. Sub-inspector Kamal Hossain, also information officer of the district police, said being tipped off that a group of smugglers were trading arms illegally on the premises of Ekra Govt Primary School, a team of police launched a drive there around 1:30am, reports UNB
