RJF monthly discussion meet held in Gazipur

The monthly discussion meeting of Rural Journalist Foundation (RJF) was held at its office in Gazipur with District Chairman Nazrul Islam Badami in the chair at 3pm on Monday .RJF Chairman Juornalist S.M Johirul Islam spoke on ideology of RJF and called upon all to be united for greater interest of the journalists including human rights.
It was addressed among others by central Senior Vice Chairman Sha M. Kazi Amirul Islam Rumi, Secretary General and Editor of The Daily Janasangbad M. Mahfuzul Haque, Organiging Sectery Sekander Alam, District General Sectary Atiqur Rahman, Vice chairman Borhan Uddin, Afzal Hossain, Sabbir Ahmed Rubel, Mokseda Akter Lima, Mobarak Hossain.

Highway blocked after van puller crushed under wheels in Barisal

Agitated local people on Monday noon blocked Barisal-Kuakata highway and ransacked a bus protesting killing of a rickshaw van puller by another bus. The victim was identified as Faruk Gazi, 40, son of late Akbar Gazi of Rupatali Adarsha Sarak of Barisal. Police rushed to the spot controlled the situation and resumed traffic on the highway after an hour, said Shakhawat Hossain, Barisal Kotwali Police Station in charge. Police and witnesses said a passenger bus of Kajal Paribahon (Dhaka Metro 14-2047) plying on Patuakhali-Barisal route crushed rickshaw van puller Faruk while he was loading bamboo on the van parking at roadside in Kathaltali area of Rupatali in the city and the victim died at the spot around 12:00 noon. Then agitated local people blocked the road and ransacked another bus of Aman Paribahan (Barisal-Ja- 11-0036) coming from Patuakhali. Police detained the killer bus, but driver managed to flee and recovering the dead body sent to morgue for autopsy lodging a case of unnatural death, police sources said.

Road mishap kills one in Chapainawabganj

A boy was killed as he was run over by a speedy truck at Nachole Bus Stand area in Chapainawabganj district on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Nasir Uddin, 14, son of Habibur Rahman of Hakroil under Nachole upazila in Chapainawabganj district. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Nachole thana Sanaul Hoque said, as Nasir was crossing the road by a bicycle at around 9 am, a speedy truck run over him injuring him seriously. He died on the way to the local health complex. Being informed, police recovered the dead body and handed it over to his relatives.

University girl commits suicide in Jhenidah

A girl student of Jagannath University committed suicide on Sunday night at Collegepara in Kaliganj upazila town of the district on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Madhubi Pal, 22 daughter of Arbindu Pal of Collegepara in the upazila town. Madhubi was a 2nd year student of Jagannath university in psychology. A neighbour declined to name said, Madhubi had a love affair with her brother in laws’ brother. She proposed to marry him. But the family members could not agree to her proposal. Consequently, she committed suicide. The dead’s brother Kartik Kumar could not tell the mystery of her suicide.

Youth held with phensidyl in Pirganj

Pirganj Thana police in a drive arrested a youth along with 11 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup from near Fakirganj high school in Pirganj upazila of the district on Thursday. The arrestee was identified as Mokhelesul Rahman, 30, son of Fazlul Hoque of Kanary village in the upazila. Police sources said, A secret information police arrested Mokhelesul while he was carrying the drugs from border aria in the afternoon. Later police recovered 11 bottles of Phensidyl from his possession.A case was filed in this connection.
